The care at the hospital was very good. They are very responsive to call bells and the food is excellent. Where they fall short is in their discharge planning. They do not work to educate patients about what to expect after discharge nor do they help patients find home health or even listen to what patients need....they treat all the same....no ability to differentiate for different family situations or patient conditions. The doctors there are not called for questions when patients ask for help The patients are the consumers, paying the bills, and the doctors are NOT GOD. They are being paid and should be called if a patient has a need or question. STOP protecting them! Having a nightmare of a time after being discharged from there. Wish we had chosen another facility and doctor. Thank GOD for you tube as we are learning what to do after surgery from you tube. That is pretty sad.
This is my second stay here. Both times have been for back surgery. The food is delicious and the entire staff is very kind and helpful.

I was a patient there last year. Being in the health care profession, I find the doctors failing in ethics, medical care and overall. The doctor did not do a proper admission history and exam but rather utilized what was written by previous doctors which had errors in the history. He falsified the discharge summary of which now I have to request amendment to my medical records. He stated I did not have a fall, which I did when he took me to physical therapy and insisted I walk up stairs, and was well noted by the nurses. From that fall I fractured my sternum and complained of chest pain throughout my stay, yet he wrote he attributed my chest pain to anxiety, which could have been properly diagnosed if he had bothered to get a chest X-ray after the fall. He specifically stated he THOUGHT my inability To utilize my arms, my decrease in cognitive thinking, my right sided weakness were all present BEFORE my surgery (which they weren't) due to the Neurosurgeons presurgical diagnosis, further illustrating his failure to do a proper history and physical. He treated medical notes, not the patient, he failed to actually listen to the patient, and plagerized his medical documentation. The nurses were great, as was Occupational and physical therapy. I had issues with the nurses aides or medical assistants as they reported and assumed self care was done. I was in the same clothes for 3 days as I could not dress by myself, I had 2 showers with OT assistance, and they assumed I had showers all the other days as one of the aids assumed I'd you had the indicator on the door you could walk to the bathroom that you were independent. They moved so fast I couldn't tell them my needs due to my condition. It has been 9 1/2 months and I can now do most things myself or with assistance. I would never send my patients there after reading my whole inpatient record and knowing what did and did not happen there as long as they continue to contract that doctor. I will be sending forward for correction of my medical record. I thank the nurses for properly documenting but ask they ensure the nursing aides report what they KNOW and not what they assume. Also request OT when doing an eval, ask the patient if they have been able to shower, dress, etc and what difficulties they have had to properly assess and document their report of ADL's. The assumption that my physical and cognitive deficits were present before my surgery, failure to assess and eval my chest pain, and improper medical documentation had a negative impact on me. The Nurse case manager was top notch as was the personnel in the dietary dept.
